On his recent visit to NYC, Barry was invited on stage to sit in with guitar legend LES PAUL at The Iridium Jazz Club !!! Barry's 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard was very happy to meet it's maker !!! After they played a tasty rendition of Django Reinhardt's "Nauges", Les asked Barry to stay up there to play a smokin' version of Duke Ellington's "Take The A Train". After the set, Les and Barry sat back stage and talked for an hour ... one amazing story after another !!!
Barry and legendary Hendrix Band Of Gypsys drummer BUDDY MILES teamed up for a smokin' set of jams at The Brandy House !!!! Most of the show was broadcast live over Z-93. The set included "Hey Joe" "Little Wing" and "All Along The Watchtower" !!!

Barry and friend/vocalist Raymond Rainey performed a live version of "White Trash TV" on the Christopher Rude Show on Atlanta's 96 ROCK !!! Chris also interviewed Ray and Barry and played "Macon" from the Temporary Eternity CD. If enough BRB fans call or E-mail 96 ROCK and Z-93 ... they said that they would play your requests. So, let's do it everyday ... and get BRB on the air !!!
It's been a GREAT year !!! I want to thank Col. Bruce Hampton & Planet Zambee for some AWESOME musical adventures ! I will be taking time off from Planet Zambee to play more gigs with BRB. Year 2000 will have us playing all over the South East so keep checking our web calendar for updates. Also, we will be recording a "LIVE" CD and releasing a smokin' jazz/funk disc of some cool jams with Jeff Sipe, Jimmy Herring, Tomas Ramirez, Count M'butu and others recorded over the last year.
It's official...Barry is now a full time member of Planet Zambee (formerly The Fiji Mariners) !!! Also, keep checking the calendar for the latest BRB shows. Barry is also doing some gigs around town with The Well Hungarians...a very cool blues band. Thanks to everyone for their continued support!!!
Barry has been asked to join Capricorn recording artists Col. Bruce Hampton & The Fiji Mariners for a couple of months starting Fri June 4th !!! Most of the weekend shows will be at The Brandy House in Atlanta. There will also be some out of town gigs and a few festivals. The Col. always has special guests stopping by to jam. This weekend: the awesome Jimmy Herring !!! (from Jazz Is Dead/The Aquarium Rescue Unit/Phil Lesh and The Allman Bros). Also this month: Rob Wasserman (from Ratdog) ... and Mike Gordon…
The Barry Richman Band and the Count M'butu Orchestra will be going out on some dates in May. Count M'butu is the percussionist for the ARU, Frogwings, Blues Traveler (on their last tour). The Count sits in with Widespread Panic every New Years at the Fox, and has played with Phish a number of times !!!
Our own Barry Richman will be interviewed on Atlanta's radio station Z-93 (92.9 on your fm dial) this Sunday Oct 4. The show is Z's very popular "Sunday Morning Blues" from 9-11. Not only will Barry's stuff be played on the air, he will also be bringing some of his favorite blues records and CDs to play as well.

The BRB will be headlining a special fan appreciation day for Allman Brothers Band fans Saturday Sept 5, put on by the Georgia Allman Brothers Society and Z-93 radio, it will be free and is at the Northside Tavern from 12-4:00, the BRB will likely play from 3:30 to 4:30. They will be playing their regular type jazz/rock/zambi stuff, this is not an ABB tribute at all.
